We’re super excited to share a little something different with you today. When Sandy and George told us that they loved the “Mad Men” TV series and wanted to loosely base their engagement photos on the theme of the show we were in, how fun! We (shamefully) have not seen the show but quickly did some research for the shoot. We knew we needed tall buildings and a dark lounge for Sandy and George to sit back and enjoy a cocktail! Hope you had a great weekend celebrating Mother’s Day with the Mom in your life (or being celebrated yourself if you’re a Mom). I had a wonderful weekend thanks so my family and hubby! Saturday we got to celebrate my Mother-in-law with lunch at El Zarape in University Heights before we headed north for an awesome Maternity shoot at Discovery Lake in San Marcos. Sunday morning we unfortunately had to skip church because Rowyn has been sick but it was actually really nice not to have plans and be able to lounge around the house. We were out of coffee which kind of worked in my favor because the hubby was so sweet, he went and got me my new fav drink, a Dirty Chai, from Starbucks. Then he surprised me with the coolest ceiling light fixture he MADE for our living room. Ever since we moved in our house (3.5 years ago) I’ve wanted to get rid of the ceiling fan light that is over our dining room table and replace it with a cool light fixture. We’ll he decided to make one, he seriously amazes me with the stuff he can make! I can’t even begin to describe it so I’ll have to post some photos soon! Then we headed to my Grandparents for a family BBQ and I got to end the night by getting a massage while Shane took Rowyn grocery shopping (not sure what I was more excited about, the massage or not having to go grocery shopping!). Luckily I have a whole month to figure out how I can even come close to making his Father’s Day so special!

Lauren (the Bride) and Taryn with Taryn Leach Design and Stationary designed every detail of this beautiful day (wait till you see the reception!) and Emilee with Tasteful Tatters provided all of the unique furniture and prop rentals. Brandon and Lauren did an amazing job tying in personal touches such as their TX (Texas) + CA (California), adding fun entertainment for their guests, incorporating unique ideas such as the Vintage photo booth and cupcake trailer and creating one of the most romantic receptions I’ve ever seen.

“Rustic Elegance” is how I would describe the perfectly executed theme of Brandon & Lauren’s  Camarillo Ranch wedding! Brandon and Lauren are good friends of ours and we were honored when they asked us to shoot their big day. Their wedding was full of laughter, great friends and family and most importantly two people that’s love for each other is contagious and can’t help but make you smile. I wish that I could describe with perfection the warm fuzzy feelings  I get from shooting a couple’s wedding day but I always feel that I just can’t articulate how truly special every wedding is. We love the Gallardo family! Our families have been best friends for as long as I can remember. I have so many fond memories of our families beach camping together every summer and spending countless holidays and life events together. We anxiously awaited the arrival of Olivia’s daughter Taylor in 2011 and then 11 months later they did the same with us as we waited for Rowyn. It’s been so fun seeing Rowyn and Taylor interact and I can’t wait for them to experience their own adventures with our families! ::Lauren

I’m so excited to finally share Rowyn’s 1st Birthday party with you! I was honestly a little sad when her party was over. I feel that Rowyn turning 1 was such a milestone (not only did we survive an entire year as first time parents but since our year got off to a rocky start with all of Rowyn’s medical issues so there is a sense of victory knowing we survived all that and are on to hopefully a healthier new year ). We are beyond blessed to now have a healthy, happy, silly and very strong willed 1 year old! Rowyn was so lucky to be surrounded by the most amazing friends and family who helped us celebrate her “Pink Lemonade” themed party in our backyard.

We met Carly through Brooke who we had just done Grad photos for. Carly is graduating from San Diego State University (SDSU) this year and we were happy to take some graduation photos for her. Carly thought it would be cool to do her entire shoot in black and white and couldn’t agree more! Congrats Carly!

Brooke is the little sister to one of Shane’s really good friends and we feel really old knowing she is graduating from college this year! She is graduating from the University of San Diego (USD) next month and we were so excited to snap a few Grad photos for her. Congrats Brooke!
